Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Mehfil is made by CloudCounsel Ltd, New Zealand. Questions or requests: cloudcounselnz@gmail.com.

2. When you play (no account)

To run a room, our game server receives and stores:

• a random player ID your device makes up (not linked to your name, email or phone)
• a random device secret, so nobody else can take your seat in a room
• the name and emoji you pick for the night
• what you type or choose in games — answers, votes, Blackmail Bank “dirt”

Other players in the same room see your name, emoji and game content — that’s the game. Nobody outside the room does. The server runs on Cloudflare.

Rooms are deleted automatically after 48 hours with no activity. We don’t keep copies.

3. On your device

Your player ID, device secret, name, emoji and earned titles are saved on your own device (browser storage on the web, app settings on iOS) so you don’t have to re-enter them. Clearing site data or deleting the app removes them.

4. If you sign in (web only)

Signing in with Google or Apple on mehfil.party lets us save your name, email, titles, game history and your friend groups’ prompt history, so the next night doesn’t repeat questions. This is stored with Neon (Postgres) via Vercel in the United States. Email us and we’ll delete it. The iOS app has no sign-in.

5. Analytics

The website uses Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to count visits and which features get used (for example “a room was created”). They see things like page views, device type and approximate location — not your game answers. The iOS app has no analytics and no tracking.

6. iOS permissions

The app may ask for these. All are optional; you can still play by room code.

• Face ID — to hide your secret role card from people peeking
• Motion — flip your phone face-down to lock a vote
• Local Network & Nearby Interaction — to find friends close by

Nothing from these leaves your phone.

7. What we don’t do

• No ads, no selling or renting your data
• No tracking you across other apps or websites
• No reading your contacts, photos or messages

8. Age

Mehfil is for adults (18+). We don’t knowingly collect anything from anyone younger.

9. Your rights & changes

You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at cloudcounselnz@gmail.com. If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. See also our Terms of Use.
