Dinner party · 4–10 adults · No setup
Games to play at a dinner party with friends.
Most dinner party game lists assume you own a board game and that everyone wants to learn rules after a big meal. These don't. Every game below runs from a room code on people's own phones, or needs nothing at all, and they're sorted by the stage of the evening they suit.
While the food is still coming
Low effort, everyone stays seated, and nobody has to stand up and perform yet.
Haan Ya Na
Rapid yes/no questions answered on your phone. The table finds out who has actually stalked an ex, and it takes thirty seconds a round.
Bhed Chaal
Everyone answers the same question; you score by matching the majority. Herd Mentality, minus the box.
Andar Ki Baat
Answer a personal question with a number, then bet on where you rank. Cooperative, so it's the gentlest opener on this list.
Once the plates are cleared
Now people are settled in and willing to get loud.
Mukhbir
One person is secretly sabotaging the night with missions only their phone knows about. Best for 5 to 10.
The Prophecy
Everyone secretly picks a prediction about how tonight will go; at the end the table votes on which ones came true. Best started early and revealed over dessert.
Antakshari
Two teams, a letter chain and a 30-second timer. Your phones keep the score and settle the letter fights.
Jalsaaz
A faction game for bigger dinners — you need at least 6. Fake allies, real betrayals.
At a restaurant dinner party
You can't shout or act things out in a restaurant, so pick games that live on the phone.
Haan Ya Na
Silent answering on the phone, loud reactions when everyone's answers are revealed. Works at a long table where people can't hear each other.
Blackmail Bank
Everyone drops a bit of “dirt” into an anonymous pool; the cards get dealt out and played over the meal — pay up or be exposed. Nobody needs to stand up.
Two truths and a lie
The no-phone classic. Works anywhere, gets old after one round.
How the phone thing works
The host opens mehfil.party and taps Room banao — no app, no sign-up.
The four-digit code goes in the group chat.
Everyone joins on their own phone. The phone runs the game; the table does the talking.
FAQ
What are easy games to play at a dinner party for adults?
Games that need no board and no rules lecture: yes/no voting games, herd-mentality questions, and prediction games where the whole table votes. Mehfil runs these in the browser from one room code, so nobody has to install anything.
What games can you play at a restaurant dinner party?
Pick games that happen on the phone rather than out loud: answer-on-your-phone games like Haan Ya Na, or Blackmail Bank, which plays out over the whole meal. Skip charades and Antakshari unless you have a private room.
How many people do you need?
Most Mehfil games work with 4 to 10 players. Mukhbir is best from 5, and Jalsaaz needs at least 6.
Is it free?
Yes. Mehfil runs in the browser, free, with no app download and no account needed to play.
